Download, secure, and use the Exodus crypto wallet with confidence. Step-by-step instructions for every platform — written for real people, not developers.

Exodus is a non-custodial desktop and mobile cryptocurrency wallet that lets you store, send, receive, and exchange digital assets from a single, polished interface. It supports over 300 cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and most major altcoins.
Non-custodial means Exodus never holds your private keys — you and only you control your funds. There is no server-side account. Your wallet lives entirely on your device and is encrypted with your password.
How Exodus makes money
Exodus earns a spread on in-app exchanges — a small percentage above the market rate. The wallet itself is completely free: no subscription, no trading fees beyond the spread, no account required.
Always download Exodus from the official source. Counterfeit wallets look pixel-perfect but are engineered to drain your funds the moment you import a seed phrase.
Critical security warning
Never download from third-party sites, mirror pages, GitHub forks, or links shared in Telegram or Discord. Fake Exodus wallets are among the most common crypto theft vectors. If a link came from anywhere other than you typing exodus.com, don't use it.
Installation is straightforward on all platforms and takes under two minutes. Select your operating system:
1. Find the downloaded exodus-x.x.x.exe in your Downloads folder.
2. Double-click it. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info → Run anyway — Exodus isn't code-signed but is legitimate.
3. The installer runs silently and Exodus launches automatically when complete.
4. A shortcut is added to your Desktop and Start menu. You're ready to proceed.
1. Open the downloaded exodus-x.x.x.dmg file by double-clicking it.
2. Drag the Exodus icon into your Applications folder when prompted.
3. Launch Exodus from Launchpad. If macOS blocks it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
AppImage: Right-click the file → Properties → Permissions → enable Allow executing as program. Double-click to run.
.deb (Ubuntu/Debian): Run sudo dpkg -i exodus-x.x.x-amd64.deb in a terminal, then launch from your apps menu.
On first launch, Exodus asks you to create a local device password. This encrypts your entire wallet file — without it, anyone with physical access to your computer cannot open or read the wallet.
No recovery without your seed phrase
Exodus cannot reset your password. If you forget it and haven't backed up your seed phrase, your funds are permanently inaccessible. Choose a password you'll remember — or store it in a separate secure location alongside your seed phrase backup.
After your password is set, Exodus will prompt you to back up. Do not skip this step. Your backup is a 12-word secret recovery phrase — a human-readable representation of your private key. This single phrase recovers your complete wallet — every asset, every address — on any device, at any time.
Never digitize your seed phrase
Do not photograph it. Do not type it into any app, website, notes tool, email, or messaging platform. Anyone who possesses your 12 words can drain your wallet instantly — no password, no device, no permission needed. Paper only.
To receive crypto, share your wallet address with whoever is sending you funds. Each cryptocurrency has its own unique address — never send Bitcoin to an Ethereum address, or funds will be lost.
Verify before sending
Always check the first and last 6 characters of an address after pasting. Clipboard-hijacking malware silently replaces addresses — a character-level spot check is your last line of defense.
Blockchain transactions are irreversible. There is no undo, no chargeback, and no support ticket that gets your funds back if you send to the wrong address. Take your time.
Before sending a large amount
Send a tiny test transaction first ($1 equivalent) to verify the address works. Confirm the test arrived before sending the full amount. This takes 5 extra minutes and has saved many people from permanent loss.
Exodus includes a built-in exchange that swaps one cryptocurrency for another without leaving the app — no third-party account, no separate withdrawal, no KYC verification.
About the spread
Exodus charges a spread above the market rate — the gap between what you send and what you receive funds the platform. The rate is shown before you confirm. For large amounts, compare against a dedicated exchange before swapping.
You've got Exodus running
You're sending, receiving, and swapping crypto. But where do you track your transactions, store wallet addresses, and keep DeFi research notes?
The missing layer
An encrypted, offline-first workspace for PC — log transaction history, store addresses, track portfolio moves, and keep every crypto note private.
Premium PC Software
NoteBase Pro is an offline-first, encrypted note-taking application for Windows — purpose-built for professionals who need a secure, private workspace for their most sensitive information.
Every note is encrypted on your device before storage. No one — not even us — can read your notes. Store wallet addresses and transaction records with zero exposure.
Works entirely without internet. Your notes never leave your PC unless you explicitly export them. Zero cloud dependency — a non-negotiable for crypto-adjacent data.
Find any transaction hash, wallet address, or memo across thousands of notes in milliseconds. No loading, no indexing delays, no waiting.
Notebooks, nested folders, and custom tags. Mirror your portfolio structure — organize by chain, project, date, or any system that makes sense to you.
Export notes or full notebooks to PDF or Markdown. Print transaction logs for tax season, share portfolio summaries, or archive records permanently.
Not an Electron app. Built natively for Windows — launches in under a second, runs lean, and never competes with your wallet software for resources.
